Reading in Clara NS
Here in Clara N.S., we place a huge focus on the enjoyment of reading. We have our own fully furbished library and have regular book clubs where we discuss and debate the various themes, characters and events in our books. We use Accelerated Reader in Clara which the children really enjoy. They can complete a quiz after each book to test their comprehension of that book and then they receive points towards the target that is set for them.
World Book Day 2024
On World Book Day 2024, the children all got to choose a character from one of their books to dress up as. We certainly have some very creative children!! The collaboration between the Senior Boys to combine to makes the dwarfs from Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs was particularly impressive. Dork Diaries, Dr. Seuss, Disney, Haunted House & Sports Books also proved popular. Well done to everyone.
Buddy Reading
Buddy Reading is something else that can help to make reading fun. The children get a partner from another class and they get time to read and listen to each other's books, and to discuss their different ideas.
