Active Schools Week
Active Schools Week in St. Patrick’s N.S. Clara was excellent. All children and their families completed some fantastic Active Homework in place of their learning homework. We took part in dance activities, athletics activities, Run Around Ireland, daily challenges, cluichí trí ghaeilge and Water Safety. Our Active Week culminated in Sports Day which we all really enjoyed! Thank you to Mrs. Farrelly for organising our Active Week and to Ms. O’Hanlon for organising our daily yard challenges. Well done to all boys and girls for you wonderful efforts! We are definitely an Active School. Keep an eye on our school Twitter account for all things Active Schools.
Cluichí Trí Ghaeilge
Our thanks to Nollaig Flood, from Muineacháin le Gaeilge and Truagh Gaels GFC for organising our weekly games in Irish. The children looked forward to this every week and their Gaeilge really improved. What a wonderful initiative! Maith sibh, go raibh maith agaibh go léir!
This year our school tours looked a little different but it gave us a wonderful opportunity to explore Monaghan Town and some local entertainment. The Senior Room had a walking tour of Monaghan where we found out all about the old train station, the RIC barracks, Monaghan’s first cinema, the Monaghan connection to Count Dracula, the interesting round corners in Monaghan town. We searched for bullet holes from the War of Independence and had a look around the museum. What a fantastic day spent in our local town that started with a picnic breakfast and finished with some delicious pizza from Apache!
Our Junior Room has some wonderful in house entertainment from the fantastic Colin Walker. We enjoyed a magic show with a fluffy bunny rabbit and some fantastic balloon creations! We all took our Teddy into school and had some story time and a Teddy Bear’s Picnic which we loved and our Teddies seems very happy to be at school!
Creative Schools Week
During Creative Schools Week, we had so much fun! In the Senior Room we recreated Van Gough’s famous art work , ‘’A Starry Night.’’ Ms’ O’ Hanlon helped us created some wonderful fruity creations which can be seen on our school Instagram account. Creative and delicious! Lesley Goggins came out to our school to complete some creative dance with us and we had so much fun !!!
We painted our school in the red and black of Truagh Gaels! It was a fantastic day! Thanks to all parents for rooting out the jerseys and full kits for the day!
Ms O’Hanlon completed the Land Paws Programme with all classes before the summer break! We hope that we can put all of this knowledge to good use in the next academic year, when we hope to return to swimming.
Wishing all members of the school community a very safe, happy and healthy summer. It has been truly well earned!
What a day! Although we had to stay in our bubbles and pods, we made the most of the beautiful sunshine on Sports Day and we finished Active Schools Week in style! Well done boys and girls!
On the 17th of June, we said a Final Farewell to our wonderful Leavers of 2021, Ciaran, Jane, Mary and Aisling. We had Graduation outside and the children must be commended for their attention and participation throughout, it was such a special day for Ciaran, Jane, Mary and Aisling. Donna and Francis from Fran and D's takeaway provided us with some yummy treats for after the ceremony, thank you both. Our leavers, were presented with some lovely gifts to remember their time in St. Patrick's N.S. Clara. We wish you all the very best in your new schools and we will miss you in St. Patrick's N.S. Christmas 2020 will be different to all others gone before it in so many ways. Our Christmas performance is no different and so we present you with a virtual, socially distanced performance. The children worked so hard practicing their lines and songs and we think you'll agree ,that the end result proves just that. The children worked like professionals outside, to record our Grand Finale, in order to keep in line with guidelines. Well done boys and girls, you have made us so proud! The pupils and staff of St. Patrick's N.S. Clara are delighted to present to you our Christmas Performance 2020. Enjoy!
